I love Edmodo questions and this one comes from within my school so no fancy block quotes this week. A teacher asked me a pretty good question. How do you know what the parents see on Edmodo? Later that day my principal asked Can you make a guide to help parents sign up with Edmodo? Hmmm, both good questions. So I made a guide for the parents and we shared it with the staff at the same time so they know what parents can see.
So click on past the break to see the guide OR download a PDF version HERE.
As a parent you can join and view important information about your child’s academic activity by joining Edmodo yourself.
This guide will help you with this task.

Step 1 – Your Parent Code
The first step is to get your parent code.
Ask your child to log in. On the right hand side of the page you will see the 6 character parent code.
Write this down. This code will connect you to all the classes your child is taking.

Step 2 – Sign up
Now go to www.edmodo.com and select Parent Sign Up.

This window will pop up.
- Parent Code – This is where the code you got earlier goes.
- Relation – Are you the mom, dad or other
- Username – This is what you use to login with
- Password
- Email – This is here if you forget your password and you can set up notifications
- First Name
- Last Name
Now click Sign up

Step 3 – Adding your other children
If you have multiple children at DAA using Edmodo you can add them to your account.
Get the code from your other child and log into Edmodo.
In the top left hand corner click on Add a Student.

This window will appear. Just add the code and select your relation to that child and click Add.

Understanding the home screen
After you sign up, this is what you will see.
You will not see everything that goes on in your child’s class but you can see the important information.

Your notifications
At the top you will see these 5 icons.
If there is a number, then there is something to view. Just click on the icon and it will show you the information for all classes.

Setting up email notifications
You can set up notifications so that

A new window will appear and you will click on Email & Text Updates.

In Notification Type select your email address (SMS notifications is not support in the UAE yet)
Then put a check mark next to the topics you want to receive notifications about.

The Planner
This is in the top left hand corner of the screen.
This is a very handy tool. Any assignment a teacher assigns is automatically displayed on the Planner. If a teacher adds a reminder on the planner, you will be able to see it too.

It will show you the upcoming events and assignments for that week.
To get the month view click on Month button at the top.

Awesome post as usual.
